If this thing wasn’t “based” off a Countach, it wouldn’t even be worthy of an hour rule post.

Yes. That’s why I put quotes around “based.”
Car owner was a Lamborghini dealer, so I’m guess he got a discount on engines and was able to use the name. Funny that they consulted Lamborghini’s Marine division for the race engine.

There is a history of auto makers turning to marine companies to produce high performance engines. Turns out marine engine manufacturers know quite a bit about building low volume engines that see a lot of high load, high rpm usage.

I know. Unlike the truck engine above, marine engines are engineered to run at high rpms all day.
I just didn’t expect it from a supercar company.

Lambo has been powering offshore race boats for a while. http://www.lambocars.com/marine_power/
Their marine heritage started with Ferrucio himself. https://www.wired.com/2013/10/lamborghini-riva-aquarama/

I know. I know all of this. I know boat engines are good engines. I know Lamborghini made boat engines.
I would have thought a high-performance supercar manufacturer would be able to do this themselves without having to bring in the boat guys.
I am surprised they didn’t do it themselves.
